A Dallas-based company has broken ground on a high-end bowling alley in Houston’s CityCentre.
The previously announced Bowl & Barrel will occupy a 16,000-square-foot space in the shopping center located at 796 Sorella Court. In addition to the bowling lanes, the venue will feature a European beer hall and American-style food.
Bowl & Barrel was developed by Dallas-based FreeRange Concepts, which debuted locations in Dallas in 2012 and in San Antonio in July 2015.
Co-owners Joshua Sepkowitz and Kyle Noonan said in a statement that they had been looking to enter Houston for a while, and chose CityCentre because of its strong daytime population and convenient location.
The venue is slated to open sometime this spring.
Bowl & Barrel is one of several upscale bowling alleys that have announced plans to open in Houston in recent years.
In 2014, Virginia-based Bowlmor AMF and Dallas-based ShowBiz Cinemas announced plans to open lanes in the area.
More recently, Missouri City-based Rubicon Realty Group, which is developing The Promenade at Telfair, told the Houston Business Journal that it is considering opening a bowling alley at the shopping and entertainment center in Sugar Land. Houston’s first Flix Brewhouse, which combines a movie theater with a dine-in microbrewery, will also open in the center, which is slated to open next year.
