A local television station in Knoxville shares the incredible story of Michael Collins, his mother and a community of Facebook friends who worked together to make a dream come true.

Collins, a 14-year-old from east Tennessee, was born with a chromosomal disease, preventing him from playing many sports as a young child. Because of this, he took to bowling at an early age and still loves to go bowling or watch the sport on TV.

Collins, a 14-year-old from east Tennessee, was born with a chromosomal disease, preventing him from playing many sports as a young child. Because of this, he took to bowling at an early age and still loves to go bowling or watch the sport on TV.

Earlier this year, his mother saw a Facebook post with a photo of an outdoor bowling lane. She shared the post and jokingly asked if anyone could help her build one for Michael. To her surprise, friends from her hometown and strangers from as far away as Ohio and New York joined the conversation and started plotting how they could help build the lane. One man with special needs children of his own traveled more than eight hours to oversee the construction project.

The lane should be complete soon, just in time for Michael to spend his summer rolling strikes.

Check out the full story from WBIR-TV in Knoxville.
