Wisconsin’s Dennis Lecher makes 50th tournament appearance; Warriors of Lake Wales, Fla., make run at National Bowling Stadium

Kevin VonderHaar of Hibbing, Minn., and Mark Sleeper Jr. of Rowlett, Texas, became the 15th and 16th bowlers of the 2014 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships to achieve perfection at the National Bowling Stadium.

VonderHaar (pictured left), a 55-year-old right-hander, sandwiched his perfect game between games of 188 and 180 for a 668 series during his team event May 7.

Sleeper (right), a 30-year-old right-hander, finished his 11th USBC Open Championships appearance with games of 187, 300 and 266 for a 753 singles series May 10. He added a 679 set in doubles and 604 in team for a 2,036 all-events total, just shy of last year’s career-best 2,044.
